This meeting brings together 60 experts from the field of education from across Europe with a variety of professional backgrounds in the education field. The sessions will focus on the opportunities that online learning offers in teaching about different biases and discrimination. Experiences made and insights gained when developing and implementing the ODIHR and Anne Frank House teaching materials on anti-Semitism and other forms of discrimination with the partners in 14 countries form an important background for the meeting.

Roundtable to raise awareness about the Holocaust

OSCE participating States have committed themselves to promoting Holocaust remembrance and education. In co-operation with the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance, ODIHR facilitates the exchange of good practices in the area of Holocaust remembrance and education. Organized on the margins of 27th January, the roundtable event sets out to raise awareness about the Holocaust. It will give the participants an opportunity to jointly discuss the significance of promoting Holocaust remembrance and education, including by looking at some of the challenges faced in this regard. Furthermore, the roundtable will be a platform to exchange good practices on Holocaust remembrance and education and present relevant practical tools and initiatives. Finally, the purpose of the meeting will be to consult and engage with Moldovan stakeholders on questions linked to Holocaust remembrance and education, including with a view to exploring opportunities for further international exchange and co-operation on related issues.

Expert meeting on the role of education in combating anti-Semitism

Place: Warsaw, 7-8 May 2013

The meeting will gather experts that co-operate with ODIHR and the Anne Frank House in developing teaching tools to combat anti-Semitism.

The purpose of the meeting is threefold. It aims to:
-present recently finalized teaching materials and facilitate a discussion on the educational insights gained when combating anti-Semitism through education in 15 countries;
-exchange experiences related to the training of teachers and take stock of challenges faced by experts in the process of implementing the teaching materials;
-connect all the experts involved in the project with a view to discussing how best to secure and document the achievements of this multilateral project.

Workshop for civil society on anti-Semitic hate crimes in the OSCE region

OSCE High Level Meeting on Confronting Anti-Semitism in Public Discourse

Launch event for teaching materials to combat anti-Semitism for Lithuanian secondary schools

Place: Vilnius, 2 July 2009

This presentation introduced Lithuanian-language teaching tools to help teenagers understand the sources of anti-Semitism in a wider international context.

The aim was also to increase students' knowledge about historic and current anti-Semitism in Lithuania and in Europe, and to support Lithuanian educators more generally in addressing stereotypes and prejudice.

The launch was hosted by the Ministry of Education and Science. Among the speakers where Gintaras Steponavicius, Minister of Education and Science of Lithuania, and Ambassador Janez Lenarcic, Director of the ODIHR.

Following the launch, professional teacher trainers attended a two-day training seminar, delivered by the Lithuanian experts involved in the development of the material.

International expert meeting on the OSCE/ODIHR teaching materials to combat anti-Semitism in Europe

Eighteen experts from eleven countries that have been involved in the development and/or the implementation of the ODIHR teaching materials to combat anti-Semitism took part in this meeting. The experts met in order to exchange experiences, to compare good practices and to plan strategies for the implementation of the materials in twelve countries. The aim of the meeting was to provide a possibility to discuss the success as well as the potential challenges of the implementation and to outline future possibilities.
