High Level Conference, 21-22 May 2013

The Conference organized by the Ukrainian Chairmanship of the OSCE and hosted by the Government of Albania will serve as an opportunity for examining the implementation of the existing commitments on combating manifestations of discrimination and intolerance, including preventing and responding to hate crimes. Furthermore, it will strive to highlight the powerful role of human rights youth education in promoting mutual understanding and respect for diversity, a priority for the Ukrainian Chairmanship.

Conference participants will review and assess implementation of the commitments related to tolerance and non-discrimination and examine steps taken to follow up on the 2010 Conference and assess the progress made since then. The Conference will provide an opportunity for participants to present examples of good practices by participating States and civil society, to discuss how these initiatives can be replicated, and to consider how OSCE institutions and other intergovernmental organizations have supported efforts to promote mutual respect and understanding, including through human rights education on tolerance and non-discrimination.
