AbstractPublisher's description: The book serves as a basic tool for preparing high school students to visit the camp of the Nazi terror in Belgium during World War II. Transformed into a national memorial, this fort welcomes more and more visiting students and teachers. The book traces the history of the fort, beginning with an overview of places inside the camp, all illustrated with testimonies and images. About 3,500 prisoners were locked up at Fort Breendonk. Three hundred people died as a result of torture, executions or living conditions.
