ECRI general policy recommendation no. 1 : combating racism, xenophobia, antisemitism and intolerance (adopted by ECRI on 4 October 1996)

Abstract

This general policy document includes recommendations to the governments of Member states in two major areas 1) Law, law enforcement and judicial remedies - including National legal order and legislation that counters racism, xenophobia, anti-semitism and intolerance, international legal instruments, national criminal law etc. and 2) Concerning policies in a number of areas - including education, policies that enhance cultural diversity, research into the nature, causes, manifestations of racism, xenophobia, anti-semitism and intolerance, school curricula, training, promotion of tolerance and cultural sensitivity and awareness-raising of prejudice and discrimination etc.
