Across the OSCE region, manifestations of intolerance and discrimination based on gender continue to undermine social cohesion and security, in particular for women and girls. Gender-based hate crimes are a consequence of gender inequalities and disproportionately affect women, as well as anyone perceived as not complying with prevailing gender norms. They have a significant, long-lasting impact on the victims, and contribute to perpetuating gender inequalities. ODIHR works with representatives of states and civil society to report on gender-based hate crimes and promote understanding of their impact. This collection presents materials on addressing gender-based hate crimes and improving security for women and girls.
